Microsoft’s website was down for a while this afternoon. There are a couple of somewhat conflicting reports as to why. Computerworld states that the reason for the outage is unknown while Businessweek quotes a Microsoft spokesperson as saying they were a victim of a denial of service attack.

Businessweek also points out that the annual DefCon conference is underway. I wonder what they are trying to say?
