UCLA Researchers are working on iTube, a mobile application that will be able to analyze food and detect potential allergens. It utilizes the phone’s built in camera and detects various allergens, including peanuts, eggs and gluten.

A small device needs to be attached to the phone in order for this to work. But, the engineers have designed it with portability in mind. It weighs less than two ounces.
