A post on Slashdot points to another example of what seems to be a ridiculous software patent awarded by the USPTO. The patent, awarded Tuesday, is for a method and system for reporting program failures. There are countless software and hardware implementations that accomplish basically the same thing. The Slashdot post mentions that IBM Mainframes have been doing this for years.
